As part of the 18th Gastronomos Quality Awards, the honorary award was presented to Dr. Antonia Trichopoulou, known as the “mother of the Mediterranean Diet”, in recognition of her long-standing and valuable contribution to science and to the promotion of Greek culinary tradition.

Receiving the award from Mr. Themistocles Alafouzos, Dr. Trichopoulou stated:

“This distinction is meaningful to me because it comes from you — from the people who strive to preserve our traditions and our values. Greece has a future thanks to you.”
