The European University on Responsible Consumption and Production (EURECA-PRO) Conference on Responsible Consumption and Production 2023 provides an interdisciplinary forum for practitioners, and academic and scientific experts on responsible consumption and production. A place to share their experience, scientific results, and the most recent advances to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 12.

Hosted by the Technical University of Crete in Chania, Greece from 26-29 September 2023, the EURECA-PRO conference also aimed to constitute a benchmark for leading researchers in this field to discuss current and future challenges, and innovative solutions considering the technological, humanitarian, economic, social, and environmental dimension of responsible consumption and production.

Dr. Antonia Trichopoulou was invited as a keynote speaker with a presentation entitled ‘From Mediterranean to Planeterranian Diet: Nutritional Diversity, Health and Sustainability’. Highlighting that although the Mediterranean diet was initially studied in countries around the Mediterranean Sea, the benefits of this overall dietary pattern are generalizable to many other Western countries, including the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Nordic countries, among others. She explained that new approaches for promoting healthy dietary behaviour consistent with the Mediterranean diet will offer healthy, sustainable, and practical strategies at all levels of public health.
