DELPHI ECONOMIC FORUM X: Food Systems, Sustainable Agriculture, Health and Climate Action

Participation of the Center for Research and Education in Public Health of the Academy of Athens at the Delphi Forum X: Climate crisis, nutrition, and public health at the forefront.

As part of the 10th Delphi Economic Forum, distinguished scientists, researchers, and representatives of international organizations engaged in a fruitful dialogue on the pressing global challenges related to climate change, food systems, sustainable agriculture, public health, and technology.

The discussion focused on the impacts of the climate crisis on health in Greece, where deaths due to heatwaves significantly exceed the European average. Special attention was given to the importance of adopting sustainable dietary patterns, such as the EAT-Lancet model, which can significantly reduce mortality. The challenges facing Greek aquaculture were also highlighted, along with sustainable proposals to address them. Furthermore, the role of artificial intelligence was discussed both as a factor with an environmental footprint and as a tool for shaping environmental policy.

A highlight of the event was the presentation by Ms. Trichopoulou on the initiative to establish the Delphi School, an innovative educational program resulting from the collaboration between the Harvard School of Public Health and the Academy of Athens. The school aims to operate as a hub for interdisciplinary education and policy-making, with its launch planned for 2026.

The event brought together long-standing and new collaborators of CPHRE from the School of Public Health, the Medical School, and the Hellenic Health Foundation.
